 Electric Charges And Fields

1. Electric Charge:- It is the basic property of matter. There are two types of charges , positive and Negative. 

     * Charges of Same sign are called like charges , repel each other. 

     * Charges of opposite sign are called unlike charges and attract each other. 

>  In Conductors , electron moves freely inside the substance, wheres In Insulators don't have free electrons. 

* SI Unit of Charge is 'coulomb (C)'' & c.g.s unit of charge is 'stat coulomb'. 

Quantization of Charge ( q = ne ) :- 

                Introduction, Measurement, Dimensional Analysis and Vectors.

*Prof. Albert Einsten's name is associated with the discovery of "Theory of Relativity" , though he was awarded Nobel Prize for photoelectric effect.

* Galileo discovered the principle of inertia.

* S.Chandrashekhar and A. Salam were Indians born American scientists who were awarded Nobel Prize .

* Wireless telegraphy was invented by Marconi.

* A. Salam unified the two types of interactions( weak and electromagnetic interactions) .

* Rocket propulsion is based on Newton's third law of motion.

* Hydroelectric power station convert Gravitational potential energy into electrical energy.

* In a thermal power station chemical energy of burning coal is changed into electrical energy.

* Sir C.V. Raman discovered the phenomenon of inelastic scattering of light  by molecules.

* Unit of Energy in SI Joule (J) also (Watt-day = unit of power x unit of time)

* Parallactic second is the unit of distance. ( 1Parsec = 3.26 light year).
